Treasure Hunt 5th and 3rd Grade Blog Takeover
/Can you guess what we did today? Just by the title? Well, today we went on a treasure hunt for chocolate coins. Using a compass and a map we located four key points and searched for buried treasure. It was kind of cold outside so we had to move fast. Did you know you have to orient the map to read it correctly and determine which way is north? I also learned how to read the symbols on the map and how to choose the right path (because there could be brambles, ouch).
When we arrived home we also practiced different math skills. With a tape measure we determined the perimeter and area of different surfaces in the house. We also used plates to make a giant clock on the floor to practice time for my brother. My sister used the same plates to skip count while she practiced multiplication.
So, my Mom saw this weird post online that talked about spirit week for the quarantine. Can you believe when I came down stairs this morning she was wearing a Christmas shirt and ELF ears. She can be so weird sometimes.
